Sun, Jan. 10th, 2010, 11:34 am update
hello update to my live that has not been done in a while. First SNOW! The photos were taken during my last weeks at school where it snowed for a day…then turned to a mess by the afternoon. My holiday had been very nice. It’s filled with children’s book. I have this huge stack in my room. I still have along way to go from the recommended amount, but I think I’ll set a goal of 100 by the first day on when I do start teaching. I’ve gotten a few from the local thrift store. They were very cheap, but I do question the quality of the literature… Oh well I’m sure a student sometime would love to read the books I go back to school next week where I’ll stay a few days at a B&B. It’s my first time going to one so it should be an interesting experience. I currently don’t have a roommate, which is rather nice. Who know when/if I’ll be getting one. I start student teaching this year. I not exactly sure what day I start, but I believe it’s in February. So I’ll be very busy, but I it does fill so nice to know that I’ll be teaching everyday. We learn so many interesting ideas at school and this will really be the first time I have a class that I see long enough to do them.

I passed my first teaching test, which makes me very happy. Now I feel like I’m really on my first steps to becoming a teaching…On that note I read a book that stated the well stocked classroom as 500 books for the students to read and 250 of those are non-fiction….that means that children books (mostly from grades 4-2) are on the top of my wish list.

I haven’t updated a bit, but here are all the major updates. ( Update this way )
I’m going to start a letter writing project. Our school is putting on a cultural fair and years ago one of my teachers stated that it is a good idea to ask the countries embassies for any information that they are willing to give….So for our cultural fair I shall write to these embassy listed below and see if we can get anything from there. Japan New Zealand Australia Germany France Russia Egypt Paraguay South Korea I tired to vary these, my teacher really wanted to make sure to hit Australia and New Zealand as were doing a summer exchange with them. I did Paraguay because I know nothing about it and wanted to see if a smaller country gave more. For France and Paraguay I wrote to their Embassy while the others are at their consulate in Houston. Let’s see how this project unfolds.

I’ve returned from my home and am now back at my dorm room. I left all my embroidery at home during my first time at the dorms. I must say that I have gravely missed it. There are times when I have so little to do that I am bored to tears. Anyway, I now have my embroidery kit in my dorm and have even started on a project. So far I picked the design, traced it on to paper, picked the fabric, and picked the stitches that I want to use. Most of these are going to be newer stitches and of course I will be making a handkerchief as I know little else to do. I think a eye-let table cloth would be a lovely place to start for my next project, yet I have no table. Hmmm…maybe I could make a cloth for my tea tray. Though I really must learn how to make a leveled straight line.

I haven’t thought I would say, but I wish I had more work to do. The way my classes are arranged I more-or-less have all day Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to complete work. I don’t start going into schools until next week so this free time I have will probably be devoted to lesson plans. However, since I have no clue what level I’m teaching I can’t even start to write lesson plans. So I’m stuck with all this free time and nothing much to do. I’m sure soon this time will fill up and I’ll start to ask for more. Another note is where I’m going to be in my field placement. I have no clue who is going with me. I do hope it’s someone I know that way I can ask them for a ride and know that they will most likely say yes. I have a few other people I can ask, but I rather not ask someone to go totally out of the way for something they don’t even have to deal with. The girls in my class are already going to the same place and the college is even on the way to the school. It just worries me…
Mon, Aug. 31st, 2009, 09:54 pm books
I am currently reading The Vampire Lestat. I’m only on page 27, but I love it so far!
Sunday’s the school doesn’t offer a dinner under the meal plan, so Lestat and I will cook a meal for both of us to enjoy. This Sunday’s menu All found in The Tassajara Recipe Book by Edward Brown ( Food! )
I leave the 20th to go check into my dorm and start school on that Monday. School is starting and the first semester I have pre-student teaching followed by student teaching in the spring. After that I’m not sure where I’ll go. Most likely I’ll go home to my parents, but I can’t help but thing that I should strive out on my own. After all, I’ll have a teaching degree I should be a teacher. For now and above all I should take time to enjoy myself…I think I’ll make some tea.
Sat, Aug. 1st, 2009, 12:19 am flowers!
Today I was given some very lovely flowers. They’re very purple and some are really unique. ( More photos )
Sat, Jul. 25th, 2009, 11:39 am writing
I realized that I haven’t written in my story in a very long time….Looking though photos always seems to inspire me….So I think today I shall look through my inspiration binder and start a new tale, or maybe go back to one. The story of NAO does some to mind…I think I should start over… Goal by tomorrow. One page.

Fri, Jul. 3rd, 2009, 09:42 pm reading
I was making my Fall reading list for school, and I noticed I fell a bit short on material. The list, so far, is as follows. The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire: A French book of poems first published in 1857. Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window into Human Nature by Steven Pinker: Non-fiction book that deals with linguistics and how in certain ways a sentence is spoken the meaning changes. (Or at least that’s what I can tell from the abstract) The Vampire in Nineteenth-centaury English Literature by Carol Senf It seemed rather interesting. Crane’s blue book of stationery : the styles and etiquette of letters, notes, and invitations Published in 1989. I really love reading old etiquette books the older the better usually. I think the oldest I’ve come about at the school was something in the 40s or 50s. So I hope this, though much more recent, will be a good read. The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame I vaguely remember reading bits of this story, or something like it, back in first grade. I often use the quote “Come Along inside..We’ll see if tea and buns can make the world a better place” which comes from this book. Anyway, this list won’t last very long so if anyone of you out there have any suggestions. I’m open to both fiction and nonfiction. I even read
Tue, Jun. 30th, 2009, 12:49 am o-bento
I’ve been looking at o-bento cases and accessories and they are beyond cute… It would be wonderful to take one with me when I student teach! Now if only I was able to cook in my dorm room. Other news: I’m back from my trip. It was very nice, but also very hot. It was about 100-102F so most of the days were spend inside.

I am leaving for San Angelo Thursday, in about 12 hours, and will return Sunday evening. I’m leaving my computer at home and with that mostly all internet access.
Tue, Jun. 23rd, 2009, 11:42 pm update
I am going to visit San Angelo on Thursday and shall stay until late Sunday. It should be fun. I’m leaving Kiba at home so I won’t be on the internet during this time I’m thinking about the next dress up event and picking a theme… The theme of picnic would be nice. If we have it in late August/early September the lilly garden in San Angelo will be in full bloom; so a picnic there would be lovely. I think I’ll wear the high waist cream skirt with the strawberries on it for that. I never found a shirt that matches it exactly so using such a theme would be the perfect excuse to get one. I was sleeping and my mother comes in and hands me the phone. It ended up being the delivery person for the flouriest making sure I was home. I didn’t mind waking up to that at all. (excuse the dust)
